For a number of years I wrote a weekly column in a local newspaper here in North Central Florida.

My column was kind of hard to categorize, it included everything from local politics to poetry, from social commentary to vignettes. You’ve heard of people who march to the beat of a different drum, well I’ve always tried for a whole different band. I liken myself to a poster child for Attention Deficit Disorder.

I enjoyed the experience and learned a lot. I was though, aware that my opinion could be detrimental to the newspaper I wrote for and so my words were sometimes very carefully chosen. I understood why that was so but I felt confined by it none the less.

I am looking towards this blog as a place to practice and hone my words and express myself effecting only me.

I’d like to thank my original editor, Skipper Hammond, for her suggestions, her direction, her patience and wisdom. We didn’t always agree on everything but I most usually learned from our disagreements.

I’m always open to suggestion but never promise to implement any of them, unless I really like them but sned them to me anyways, you never know.
